Privacy Policy

Kohl’s Field Trip LLC
Last updated: December 2025

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what little information we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it while you’re reading stories or sending me a message.

Who we are
Kohl’s Field Trip LLC is a small travel blog run by one guy (me, Kohl) from a home office in the United States.
Company address: 601 Wabash St, Michigan City, IN 46360, US
Email: [email protected]
Phone: +1 219-243-2873

Information we collect
When you simply read the site, we collect almost nothing. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, time spent) only to keep the site running and fight spam. These logs are deleted automatically after a few weeks.

When you decide to contact me through the contact form or by email, we receive whatever you choose to send: your name, email address, and the message itself. That’s it. I keep those emails because I genuinely answer every single one, and sometimes we become pen-pals for years.

If you subscribe to the very occasional newsletter (usually one email every few months when I finish a new route), we store only your email address. You can unsubscribe with one click anytime, and I’ll wave goodbye without hard feelings.

Cookies and analytics
The site uses a minimal amount of cookies. A small session cookie keeps the site running smoothly, and a simple analytics tool (Plausible) that collects no personal data and doesn’t track you across the internet. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no advertising partners, nothing that follows you around.

How we use your information
The emails you send me stay between us. I might quote a tiny part (with permission) in a future story if you share a great tip, but never your name or anything that could identify you unless you explicitly say it’s okay.

Newsletter emails are only used to tell you when a new escape is ready or when I found a life-changing street-food stall. No selling, no renting, no “partner offers.”

Data storage and protection
Everything lives on encrypted servers in the European Union (even though the company is American) because European hosting companies are stricter about privacy. Email is stored on a password-protected, two-factor secured account that only I can access. Backups are encrypted and kept for a reasonable time in case the site breaks.

Your rights
You can ask to see every single piece of information I have about you (it’ll probably fit on a post-it note). You can ask me to delete it, change it, or stop sending you emails. Just write to [email protected] and I’ll handle it personally, usually the same day.

Third parties
There are none. No advertising networks, no data brokers, no one else touches your information.

Children
The site isn’t aimed at anyone under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy
If anything important changes, I’ll put a notice on the site and update the date at the top. Since the site is tiny and run by one stubborn traveler, changes almost never happen.

Questions
Still worried or just curious? Write me at [email protected] or call +1 219-243-2873. I’ll answer honestly, probably from an airport somewhere.
Thanks for trusting me with your inbox and your time.
Safe travels,
Kohl
